Nicholaus and his story

Nicholaus is such a good writer. He had to compete in a writing contest at school for all of the 4th grade. The children were rewarded for their hard work with money, which ranged from 1.00 to 10.00. The story had to be written, without any help from the parents and it had to include the prompt "One Night Mother Moon had a million babies." So Nic wrote his story, I did some very minor editing (more grammar than anything) and we sent it to school. Well last Friday Nic came home so very jazzed. He won 5.00 for his story, which equals 2nd place for his class. The retired teacher who grades them told the class that Nic's story and one other little girls were the only 2 in the entire 4th grade that made her cry. I was so happy!! So without any more words from me, here is Nic's story:

"Crack, Snapple, Pop" the fire went, as we sat around it at our annual Cub-O-Ree. Our Cub Master, Ms. Monica was telling us a story that went something like this "Moon!" the Lord said. "Yes" replied Moon. "I have a problem moon. After working for seven days, something still doesn't feel right." "God, you just need to rest and tomorrow you will feel better." "You know you might just be right Moon." The next night God said "Moon!" "Yes," Mood said. "After one long Day and Night I still feel something is missing!" "You know you are starting to make sense God. It is so lonely and dark up here in the sky." After a few minutes God had a plan. He decided that there needed to be little lights to help light the sky. So that night Mother Moon had a million babies. Her babies grow to be the stars we live to see most nights!" "WOW!" I said as my pack leader finished her story. that night as we looked up at the stars, I could not help but think how dark it would have been if Mother Moon had not have had a million babies.

Wasn't that a great story? I am such a proud mommie!!! =)
